Capability slicing is a technique for identifying and narrowing down options for enabling a customer to achieve something they cannot currently.

Embedding this practice at any level of work or objective setting — user stories, projects, programs, themes, features, epics, other work initiatives, even OKRs — can lead to faster delivery, happier customers, greater predictability, less risk and greater agility.
